Chhetri or Chhettri, synonymous with Kshetri and Khatri are all derivatives of Kshatriya, the warrior and ruler caste group or varna of Hinduism. Chhetris speak Nepali, the national language, and are part of the dominant Khasa culture and the wider Pahari Khas-Nepali population. Chhetri refers to Kshatriyas from the hills of Nepal but not from the Nepalese Terai or India.
This body of work renders my experience of living with a Chhetri family in the northeastern part of India, Sikkim. They run a homestay for tourist in Sikkim. They also cultivate their own vegetable by in house farming and tries to preserve their culture by introducing their culture to the tourist.
